- Hi all, I really could do with some help with my alarm system. 2 weeks ago, I purchased a 2 year old house with an ADT branded Visonic Powermax 10 system installed which has some faults preventing me from arming the system. - Sep 30, 2009 Reset ADT System Master Code. Once I got the sequence right (installer code + 8 + 02 +. So hopefully those steps on resetting the default codes. Welcome to the forum. This is a common situation; unfortunately, there aren't a lot of options.
There's a way to reset by powering down, installing a jumper, then powering up. That will erase all the programming though, so you probably don't want to do that, but that is the way in if you're locked out. The default master installer code for that panel is 9999, and the default regular installer code is 8888. I'm sure ADT changes them though. The installer code is the code used to get back to the programming menu screen. The default on a Honeywell system is 4112. For most users looking to get things in working order, it will be easiest to simply set the system to 4112 for the time being. For Lyric's or the LYNX Touch panels, below is how you can change the installer code from.
Do you want to do a 'factory default' on the NX-8 panel? If that is what
you want to do, click the following link for the manual. Go to page 8 and
follow the instructions for 'Loading Factory Defaults' in the center of the
page.
NOTE: Doing this will clear the program, requiring you to program the entire
system from scratch. Please be absolutely certain this is what you want to
do before doing so.
If all you want is to change the Download Access Code, that is stored in
Location 20. Follow the instructions for changing that value alone.
Another significant code is the 'Go To Program' code, found in location 42.
It's a 4- or 6-digit code. This is the code you use to enter programming
mode.
To change any item, enter programming as follows:
Disarm the system.
Press [*]-[8].
Enter the current 'Go To Program' code.
Press [0]-[#] to program functions of the NX-8 master control panel itself.
Enter the location number you wish to display/alter, followed by the [#]
key.
Enter the desired new data, followed by the [*] key.
After you press the [*] key the program will advance to the next segment.
Change it if needed and press [*] to scroll on.
For more detailed instructions, see page 9 of the manual I referenced above.

Home alarm systems drastically help keep burglars from breaking and entering your home by up to 300%. At times, however, home alarm systems malfunction or are set off improperly. This can bring loud noises, distractions, and calls to emergency services. Forgetting your alarm’s passcode to disable your alarm can quickly become stressful if you are not fully prepared for the situation. If you have a home alarm installed in your home and you need to reset the device without a code, there are a few ways to do so depending on the system itself and your service provider.
Why Is It Important To Know How To Reset Home Alarm System Code

Every homeowner is different and therefore has different reasoning for wanting to know how to reset home alarm system code.
Maybe you just moved into a new home that has an alarm system. Perhaps, at first, you were excited to have the ability to monitor your property. However, the previous owners of the home did not know what the code was for the panel. Now your equipment is left sitting idle until you reset the code.
Or maybe a relative passed away and you’re taking over their home security system. Resetting the passcode will help you complete the change of responsibility.
In most cases, it’s best to seek guidance from the security company behind the alarm panel. However, you can try the following to reset the code on your own.
Check Your Home Alarm’s Guide and Instruction Manual

Most home alarm systems along with security cameras include instruction manuals and guided instructions for resetting systems without a readily available passcode. Because each alarm system is uniquely developed, each set of instructions based on the make and model of your device is likely to vary. Not all steps provided by a generic guide to resetting a home alarm will work, especially if you have special prompts to follow and codes to enter into your specific system.

However, if you are adamant about stopping noises coming from your home alarm, the most basic steps involved in the process include:
- Remove the AC adapter and power source of your home’s alarm from the wall
- Open the main panel to your alarm system using a key provided by your security company or another tool that fits in place
- Remove one of the leads from the battery by unplugging the wire from a large block-like chip section inside of your alarm system
- Call your security company immediately to report the incident and to disregard sending unnecessary emergency services to your home
Call Your Security Company Directly
If your home alarm is beeping incessantly when disabling the system, call your home security company for immediate assistance. Your security company should have the ability to remotely disable any malfunctions. A team of security experts can also determine the root cause of your system’s issues. If a problem cannot be detected over the phone, your security company can send a service technician depending on the home alarm you are using as well as the type of equipment you currently have installed.
